For a long time working with color pencils was my passion. I started small, with a little piece depicting a bunch of radishes. It was my first piece and I wish I still had it. If I really search I might find it tucked away somewhere. The picture was about 4" x 4", so pretty little. It was nice though and it inspired me enough to keep going.
There have been many pieces created through the years, I have done landscapes, animals, people, buildings and still life. Basically, I have done pieces of any subject matter that has caught my fancy.
I love the feel of the paper, the saturated color and amazing variety of textures that can be achieved with a simple set color pencils.
One of my favorites is the portrait of my son, Travis playing Uncle Wiggly with his Grandpa Vic....(check out the Darth Vader tee shirt)

I loved the lighting and the way Travis's hair turned out. It looks like both of them too!

As time went on and I became more comfortable with the medium, the pieces became much larger. (and more expensive to frame) I joined the CPSA, Color Pencil Society of America, and began to enter into shows. Twice I had the honor of being juried into the International Color Pencil Show and several of my pieces were featured in "Best of Color Pencil" volumes 2 & 4! YAY! (my little claim to fame) I think the books are still available in art stores.
My art was becoming bigger and the subject matter was shifting as well. I was was increasingly being inspired by Spirit and Spiritual imagery. Over and over the night sky appeared in different aspects in my work, sometimes in little ways and sometimes it took over the piece. I did several pieces that had my hands in them, one of which I am using as my new logo for margaretjoyceart.com - It is the one and only airbrush piece that features my hand and my husband's hand coming together in the night sky in a burst of light. We used the image as our wedding invitation/announcement when we got married. I love it.
Most all of the images that I have created are available in cards and prints on my web site: margaretjoyceart.com I have framed originals of many of my pieces available as well. Take a look at all my varied creations.
enjoy.
